Why does Ayurveda consider yavagu, kanji, or gruel as good food?
Yavagu or kanji are easily digestible and carminative in nature. This can be given with Moong daal, cumin seeds, etc. Ayurveda advocates kanji along with Moong daal, as the best food. We give specified medicated water according to the patient's condition.

Ayurveda advocates leafy vegetables should not be eaten at night, during monsoons and during hot weather. It is still followed in villages. Leafy vegetables are high in fiber. So it cannot be easily digested. So those who are in good health can take leafy veggies only when they are hungry at noon. leafy veggies have all the nutrients and there is no doubt in it. But the body is not in a position to digest and absorb those nutrients easily. That's why many people pass two or three stools after taking leafy veggies.
In Ayurveda we call leafy veggies as shaka vargam. It increases Vata in the body. In general, it is best to avoid greens for those who have problems like indigestion, indigestion, chest irritation, ulcers, stomach acid, and sour belching.
